the one where badrul expresses his gratitude...

salam lebaran...


i'm sure everyone masih lagi dalam mood raya... me too! and i'm sure masa nih some of you masih lagi kat kampung beraya bersama sanak-saudara... makan ketupat dan rendang... lemang dan serunding... seronoknya! anyway, i too have a wonderful raya, walaupun kena kerja first day of raya hari tuh, it was worth it! i taknak cerita pasal kerja di hari raya, but i want to share a story yang membuatkan my hari raya this time around sungguh bermakna...

one day before raya, i called izreenkiut... entah apasal entah, i rasa macam nak buat nasi tomato for hari raya... i was planning to prepare it when my parents balik dari mekah, maybe on the third day of raya, tapi macam biasalah kan, kalau nak masak something yang baru kenalah cuba dulu... ok, back to nasi tomato and izreenkiut... kalau siapa-siapa yang pernah makan nasi tomato yang emak izreenkiut masak, i'm sure you will agree with me that it is the most delicious nasi tomato you've ever taste... so, naturally, i mintaklah kat izreenkiut the recipe... masa tuh tak terlintas kat fikiran yang i dah buat something yang a bit 'unethical'...

why it was unethical? well, you see, izreenkiut's mom does this for a living... dia masak untuk catering... for business... i nih pandai-pandai jer pergi call izreenkiut and mintak the recipe... after i realised the mistake that i've made, for a few days i rasa tak sedap hati... but at the same time, i taknak kacau izreenkiut beraya... so, on the fourth day, which is today, i called her and apologies... of course lah dia cakap takpa... well, she is really sweet... i felt a bit relieved but, i still feel that i need to jot this down...

how was the nasi tomato? it was a big hit! hari raya pertama, i masak nasi tomato, kari ayam, daging masak halia, acar timun, masak pedas udang dan sambal belacan... tina datang beraya and later bawak balik some for her brother, chris... the rest, 'export' to rumah abang shonny where his parents, his bothers' family and sisters' family gathered for holiday...

hari raya kedua aiman nak makan nasi lemak, so i cooked nasi lemak with ayam masak merah, sambal pedas ikan, timun, telur dan ikan bilis... since my parents arrived quite late on the second day of raya, dia orang dapat jugaklah rasa sikit my nasi lemak... hahahhaa...

on the third day of raya, sekali lagi i buat nasi tomato and this time for the rest of my family... ramai tau... about 18 people including my grandmother yang datang all the way from terengganu... again i masak lauk kari ayam, daging masak halia, sambal pedas telur, udang sweet n sour, acar timun dan sambal belacan... alhamdulillah, habis licin... and my parents suka sangat... maklumlah, dah lama tak makan masakan melayu nih...

so again, to izreenkiut and her mom, thank you very much... thank you for sharing the most delicious nasi tomato recipe with me, and thank you for making my hari raya a memorable one... all my gratitude to you, your mom and your family...
